Kumà Dûnî (/beˈbu̹mu/ /ˈdʊnɪː/ [broken] [shell]) is a temperate Large Town located in the Dnánman Principality of the City-state of Kakoray.

The name Kumà Dûnî is derived from the Wareneese language, as Kumà Dûnî was founded by Glennie Fyèlêyë, who was culturaly Wareneese.

Climate

Kumà Dûnî has a yearly average temperature of 8°C (46°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a cool 12°C (53°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 5°C (41°F). Kumà Dûnî receives an average of 273 cm/y (107 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Kumà Dûnî covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 2374 m (7788 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Kumà Dûnî was founded durring the late 14th century in spring of the year 1296, by Glennie Fyèlêyë. The establishment of Kumà Dûnî suffered from many setbacks, delays, and obsticles, most notably a group of Kumà Dûnî which required millitary assistance exterminate before the community could finish being built.

Kumà Dûnî was built using the conventions of Wareneese durring the late 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Kumà Dûnî is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

Kumà Dûnî is is constructed arround a series of restrictive paverstone mainstreets which form concentric circles, with smaller strait roads linking the circiles to each other at varrious points. The town posesses a fortified albit thin wall of querried stone. This wall posesses most of the features of a castle wall, though it is constructed from cheeper inferior stone. It would pose a minor chalange for an attacking army, though it's clear the wall's true purpose is to crush the hopes of bandits and marauders. The town's failry decent fortifications are visibly old, but also obviously well maintained. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with routine mantance of the town's defences.

Kumà Dûnî has a very calm atmosphere. People can be seen relaxing, scocilizing, and going about all manner of business other than the daily grind. Men, women, children, all can be seen enjoying life in a laid-back way in the many parks which line Kumà Dûnî’s streets. Yet, deep down, you know this atmosphere is a carefully created illusion. You can see the ocasional seam in their tapestry. You’re not sure what has them doing their best to act so carefree, but act carefree they do.

Civic Infrastructure

Kumà Dûnî has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Kumà Dûnî. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Kumà Dûnî's parks.

Kumà Dûnî has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Kumà Dûnî.

Kumà Dûnî has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Kumà Dûnî has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Kumà Dûnî has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Kumà Dûnî's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Kumà Dûnî possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Large Town. Kumà Dûnî's grid is powered by a direct leyline tap.

Kumà Dûnî has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Kumà Dûnî's natural decorations nor waterways.

Kumà Dûnî has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Kumà Dûnî has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Kumà Dûnî's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is known primarily for its use of abstraction and simplicity. Clean lines, right angles, and primary colors characterized this aesthetic and art movement expressed via architecture and paintings. Its design ethos allows only primary colors and non-colors, only squares and rectangles, only straight and horizontal or vertical lines. Vertical and horizontal lines are positioned in layers or planes that do not intersect, thereby allowing each element to exist independently and unobstructed by other elements. These seemingly impossible principals for an architectural style coalesces into structures which most experts find hard to put into words. It is not that their geometry is impossible, but rather the style's attempt at producing works only describable visually was most successful..

In Kumà Dûnî sometimes, near one of the seasonal solstices, the sun appears to split into three and it rains from a clear sky for several hours.

The Witchcrow near Kumà Dûnî are known to be quite timid.

Kumà Dûnî's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in winter and involves sacrificing an animal to channel Wild Magic energies of tier 2 via speaking in tongues.

Kumà Dûnî is remarkably well-fortified for a site of its size and role. Tall, stout walls, strong points inside the community, concentric defenses, a strategic terrain location, or a large body of standing troops might be present. Some threat is thought to exist that makes maintaining this fortification worthwhile, though it may come at a dear cost to the locals. The community’s suzerain may be uncomfortable with these defenses, as they could just as easily be used to defy the ruler.

Due to a magical anomaly, Kumà Dûnî is directly accessible from a nearby river, despite the lack of a physical connection between the town's pond and the river.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century the Kami blessed the town with wealth for a year and a day. One of Kumà Dûnî's local festivals commemorates this miracle.
